"Levitar / Levitate", mármol, metal / marble, metal, 250 x 55 x 40 cm.

"A Onda / La ola / The Wave", mármol, metal / marble, metal, 112 x 60 x 22 cm.

"Despertar / Awakening", mármol / marble, 31 x 68 x 28 cm.

«The act makes it possible to perform a sculpture, it´s a bit like walking on a cable; thin wire that extends through a cliff able to absorb creativity to the minimum uncertainty or hesitation of the artist.
Rare are the works that during his mental conception are not the subject of an intense criticalanalysis that culminate often with the rejection of the initial idea or a profound aesthetic change, although the idea matrix is maintained.
At this point the passage is halfway. The choice of the material will allow the passage from idea to physical plane, is the most important stage. The cable becomes thinner. It turns out that the material has an essence that must be made and, even with a refined technique for long years of practice, difficult to obtain three-dimensional image created by the mind.
The entire journey takes place in precarious balance. The tension in the cable is taken to the limits by the impetuosity of the creative gesture. Sometimes the mind and gesture are derived in complete harmony with the oscillation of the cable and slowly comes a glimpse of land.
The desired end is an illusion, because the feeling of vertigo will last well beyond the end of the work or to never fade.»

«With each breath we take, the dust penetrates deep into every pore of the body.
This light, dry dust floats in the air, enveloping man until he becomes indistinguishable from the raw material he has exploited for centuries.
Men drag shapeless blocks from the depths of the earth; they carry tons of stone up the steep sides of the quarry. The block is rough-hewn, cleaning it of its impurities, its surface
is smoothed and, depending on its quality, it is stacked high in immense building yards to wait its turn to serve Society. Only the tiniest part of all this marble will be of a quality pure enough to awaken a creative urge.
It was into this environment that I was born, for the life which, together with my family’s connection with the exploitation and transformation of marble, was to determine my future.»

"Abismo / Abyss", mármol, metal / marble, metal, altura / high: 150 cm.

"Abismo / Abyss", bronce, metal / bronze, metal, 191 x 75 x 35 cm (con base / with base)

«During my childhood and adolescence, I absorbed its hardness, its strength and its nobility, and I came to understand the characteristics of its geological formation. I visualized the various steps in the process of turning a hard, heavy, shapeless block into a work of art. I learned the secrets of marble with the best teachers; I learned the details of technique, and above all I learned humility before such a noble material.
Throughout these years, I have worked day by day, dedicating myself body and soul to sculpture that could in some way express my fears, my joy, my longings, all that I am as a human being.
These have been hours, days, months, years of hard workshop labour in solitary dialogue with this material.
Out of the material, shapes have been created, sculptures have been born and the primal impulse of my hands has been etched into the surface of the marble.»

"Pulsar", mármol, metal / marble, metal

«To look at the human body and see different things, incessantly, Rogério Timóteo always finds something new, discovers a way of working that differs from what he used before. In the end, as if the physical and metaphysical particularities of the individuals had changed position and the personality was determined by the external appearance. That's why, for about two decades, he does not do anything else. In marble, mainly, but also in bronze.
He has already experienced other languages, such as abstractionist games. Essays that were far from satisfied. He was not him. He prefers to stay in the field of figuration of the human form, because it is "a constant challenge". In it, he discovers renewed particularities at all times, as if it were a mystery. "From a certain height, with the language we learn, we evolve and our discourse becomes autonomous, this is what I want to do and I feel that I am still in the beginning. Everything I have done so far, was a preparation for what I will create", he says.» Samuel Alemão, 2007

"Corpos / Cuerpos / Bodies", mármol, metal / marble, metal, 151 x 88 x 40 cm.

«I develop a language having as main element the human body. I am interested in a body representation that is timeless in its message but which can be recognizable or felt in the eyes of the observer without the need for additional information.
Being a contemporary figuration, it is inserted in a much wider context followed by many sculptors on a global scale, although in Portugal the sculptors of this artistic movement are rare.»

«It is difficult to find words to express what Master Pedro Anjos Teixeira means as teacher and friend. If we had not crossed, I would not have been a sculptor, but even if I were a sculptor, I certainly would not have the technical bases that enable me to carry out all my work.
Besides being a teacher, I had the honor of having him as a great friend, despite our age difference. I am eternally grateful for his enormous generosity of accepting me as a pupil, conveying his immense knowledge in the most varied technologies of sculpture.»
